Which Highway Connects Sikkim to India?

Sikkim is a land locked State with three international frontiers – Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) of China, Nepal and Bhutan.

For far too long the only access to the State from the rest of the country has been the National Highway 31A. It has been the ambition of the people and the Government of Sikkim to have a dependable connectivity with the rest of the country and the world by road, rail and air and the internet.

In this context the new 44 km-long Sevoke to Rangpo Rail Link connecting West Bengal to land locked Sikkim was started. The first phase of this project has started now. This project would be completed by 2012.

The nearest station to Sikkim is Jalpaigudi and nearest air link to access Sikkim is bagdogra airport.
