Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched free medicine scheme ‘Niramaya’ at Capital Bhubaneswar. Under the scheme 570 different medicines will be provided free in government hospitals. The state government has made a budgetary allocation of Rs.200 crore for distribution of free medicine. Hospital consumables and surgical items and medicines for serious ailments such as cancer and diabetes are also part of the free drugs scheme. The entire procurement and distribution process will be done online. Reference
